If it mirrors last time, it should end Tuesday, January 4. It started on December 15 last year, and I doubt they would launch it on the same day as the Anniversary, so here we are. “We're also going to be a bit more front front-heavy with the content, and rather than just trickling a bunch of stuff out over time, go with one big shotgun blast." Update: Bungie has said this content will not be timegated, in fact: Regardless, this is certainly the biggest “midseason” date, and when I would expect some refreshes to happen, like the already-announced reset of transmog bounties. My guess is it may be staggered at least a little bit, but we’ll see. It’s unclear whether or not all of this will be rolled out at once or whether it will be staggered.

The Anniversary Event contains a free component, including a new 6-man activity and rewards from past Bungie games, but also a paid component with the Loot Cave dungeon and the return of Gjallarhorn. Skipping ahead here because I can’t predict the exact date for difficulty options. We do not know the rewards for these, but I would assume something like high stat armor or multi-perk weapons, similar to Splicer last season. Tuesday, October 19 – Astral Alignment and Shattered Realm difficulty options? This is supposed to happen some time in this window, and it would make sense to me that once the Wayfinder’s quest ends, the new difficulty options would show up.

I do not believe that the story for the whole season will be over with this singular quest being over, with Savathun breaking out and the story pausing until the events of the Witch Queen, but at the very least, this first phase should be over. If it’s not this week, it would be the next one. Also Tuesday, October 12 – Wayfinder’s Voyage story quest over? I’m not sure if after the compass is done, we’ll have two or three more weeks, but if it’s two, this is when the quest will end and we have enough Techeuns to remove Savathun’s worm.
